There was a day, not so very long ago, when I fell in love. Hard. With a magic bus. It was orange. The color of my soul. And I told DearSweetDave that I simply MUST have it. We all know that I am a card-carrying Deadhead who has traveled this great country of ours from sea to shining sea.
When I saw this beautiful magic bus, it was truly love at first sight. My romantic memories of life on the road with Jerry and the Boys came flooding back and I imagined myself and DearSweetDave tooling around the country with no particular destination in mind visiting this person and that person and well, just having the time of our lives.
The reality is that we've taken exactly one road trip in this glorious Magic Bus. Just one. And it really is not being used to its most excellent full potential. While the puppies certainly love it as their very stylin' mode of transportation, I just (heartbreakingly) feel that I should pass it along to someone else who will truly use it the way it is meant to be used.
The good news for that person, whomever he or she may be, is that it is smogged, registered, and it has all these new parts and runs like a champ. So if a person would be so inclined to take a very magic journey where ever his or her heart's desire leads them to wander, this is certainly the bus to get them there. It has most excellent karma, people. It really does.
Since I purchased it, I've put in a new rebuilt engine, a new muffler and tail pipe, a new clutch, a new gas line (remember that?!) and it's had a complete tune up and regular maintenance. Again, it really has only been driven back and forth to the dog park except for our recent trip to Los Angeles where it handled going 65 mph for the 6 hour drive without even a single hiccup. It has less than 100,000 miles on it. What the actual mileage is, we're not positive since the odometer broke while the last owner had it, but it was at 78,000 then. Honestly, it's just a great little van.
It also has a very nice CD stereo system, an extra marine battery so you can run things when the car is not running, an after market heater so you can be warm and toasty while camping and a beautiful orange and white striped awning so that you're the TALK OF THE CAMPGROUND whenever you pull over to stop and enjoy the view for a while.
I know it sounds crazy to be giving up this wonderful little van, but like I said, I just feel like it should go to someone who will actually use ALL of its features and who will truly appreciate it. I know it would make a terrific Burning Man vehicle. A surfer would love it, it has roof racks and is ready for Baja, dude. Or maybe there's just someone out there who feels the call of the road, who wants a grand adventure.
The Magic Bus can give you a grand adventure in style.
It's located in Santa Cruz, California, obviously. If you're interested, drop me an email and we'll figure something out. I have all the service records from the beginning of time and can answer any questions you might have. The Magic Bus is not perfect, but it is absolutely reliable, road worthy and like I said, this van has amazing karma.
Plus, it's the color of your soul. What more could you want?

Hey Jen,
Is there enough room for sex in that VW beacuse that would be the reason for buying it,

"It is freakin COOL!" I love V-Dub's. I owned 8 throughout my life. I started out with a red 1966 1300cc bug with rear pop out windows. It had 12,000 mi on it. I loved that car until an older woman ran a red light and totalled it. My last v-dub was a red 1988 GTI 16v. What a ride that was. I know someone will just fall in love with your magic bus just like you did.
