Hello, Internet? I have some quick questions. I’m still floating around at sea. I have to admit that this is a rather ridiculous cruise and I would never recommend this to my travel customers. I mean seriously. We have spent the entire day just going around in circles. This is because they are trying to give us an “extra” day onboard before we get back to Los Angeles. But it means that the boat has been pitching and swaying and there have been more than the usual number of people feeling quite queasy. I spent a large part of the afternoon at an art auction.
My first question? If you were on a boat far out in the middle of the ocean would you really take that opportunity to purchase a Rembrandt? Or a Chagall? With a price tag at over $45,000? I suppose the art auctioneers are hoping that you’re a) drunk and b) on vacation and therefore feeling generous with your wallet. But goodness. I don’t think it would be the place I’d be dropping $45,000 for a piece of art. But I guess that’s just me. There were definitely people on the boat (and I’m surprised there were people on this particular cruise who were doing it) who were more than willing to purchase a Rembrandt. And a Chagall. So curious to me.
My next question? I’ve been asked by more than a few readers of Nakedjen if there are other blogs out there that are like mine. Now, my first response is of course to say, “How could there by anything as unique and special as Nakedjen out there?” But I know there probably are other women out there with blogs who are not only getting naked and sharing the pictures of themselves as they vacuum or make dinner or just sit at their computer or even go trick-or-treating, but who are also sharing the very raw and naked material of their everyday lives. I just haven’t really been able to find them. Of course, I may not be using the best search tactics.
So this is where you, my dearsweetreaders, come in. You obviously read Nakedjen. Perhaps you also read other similar blogs? This is not unlike my recent request where I asked for a plug-in piece of software where you could just instantly know that readers of Nakedjen also read…
Since we don’t have that plug-in yet (and my sincere thanks to Trenton for both his very thoughtful response and his sweet email) I’m just going to ask all of you to share with me in the comments what other blogs you read that are like Nakedjen. Or even not like Nakedjen. Just blogs that you also like. Then maybe I can find some other blogs that are like Nakedjen to share with my readers the next time they ask. I can even create a list of them to make it super easy! I just need to know where to link. So please share!
Finally, for Cookie, who asked what I was doing in Cape Cod in that tent all those years ago with my father watching the musical of 1776. I’ll share that my father’s family actually comes from the Cape. Wareham and Woods Hole and New Bedford to be precise. If you’re a Neal and you live on Cape Cod, you’re most likely related to me. I spent the majority of my childhood summers on Cape Cod in a tiny cottage on “the pond” playing with six boy cousins and visiting with my grandma and grandpa. And then we’d escape the family madness and go to New Hampshire to spend a few weeks on Golden Pond in another cottage where I was always determined to win the local fishing contest.
I did win two summers in a row. Then I discovered horses and started spending every summer on the back of a pony. Horse show ribbons took the place of my fishing trophies and Cape Cod and New Hampshire were no longer on the summer itinerary.
I took DearSweetDave back to Cape Cod to meet my many relatives just
after we were married. He even scooped cranberries in the bogs. I do
love Cape Cod. I can’t eat a cranberry without thinking of it. Every
single time.
