What Love Looks Like
When I was cooking our second Thanksgiving dinner on Sunday night one thing that I most certainly had to include on our menu was sauerkraut. I am not exactly sure why it is, but in NakedMom's family, which is the Kern side of my family, we have always had sauerkraut for all of our holiday meals. My nana always insisted that we have it. And even now that she's been dead for quite some time, all of us still have sauerkraut on our tables whether we're gathered together or not. It's almost as if we expect that she may show up and we don't want her to be disappointed.
DearSweetDave hates sauerkraut. He often complains when I make it that it is stinky! That it is gross! That he doesn't understand how I could possibly eat it. He also doesn't like olives or pickles. I don't really understand that, to be honest, but then I don't have to love absolutely EVERYTHING about the man to love him. Just enough about him. And I do certainly love enough about him. I think that's been pretty well established.
So I made our all organic meal on Sunday of pecan and apple stuffing, of mashed potatoes with caramelized onions, of brussel sprouts, of gingered carrots, of bourbon pumpkin pie and with a sauerkraut serving for one.
Imagine my surprise, people, when DearSweetDave served himself some of that sauerkraut? I asked him what he was doing and he told me that in honor of my cooking the meal, he was going to take some and give it a try. Just for me.
That's what love looks like. When your husband eats the sauerkraut just because you made it. And then he tells you that it actually doesn't taste so bad! My nana would be so glad.

That IS love. Though I don't understand people who don't love pickled foods either. Btw? Your menu sounds FABULOUS. Care to share any recipes?

That is too sweet. There is stuffed cabbage (which includes the sauerkraut) at all my family meals. Steve won't touch it.
I LOVE your banner, with all the colorful nakedjens!
