so i ended up having a very beautiful day yesterday. it started with the dogs, as all my days do. you know, i love that my days always start with my dogs. it really grounds me. we get up. we spend three hours together every morning. just the three of us. and it is so special to me. i truly love that i have a life that allows me to do that. i know that i am very blessed to have that and that not all dog owners have that luxury.
so yesterday was a beautiful perfect morning. and i spent it with both dogs at the beach. and then realized just as it was chiming ten o'clock (there's a church right next to the dog beach that has bells that ring) that it was the saturday for the santa cruz holiday parade. so i rushed home and grabbed dearsweetdave and we walked the two blocks from our house to the parade.
the santa cruz parade is truly an "only in santa cruz" event. and it makes me smile and appreciate why i live here every single year. check out these kids:
they are all students at the orchard school. which is just one of many of the very cool schools we have for kids here in santa cruz. and nearly all the schools were in the parade yesterday.
and then there was the librarian precision book truck drill team. which was made up of all the local librarians. har!
there were weird burning man type cars with santas at the wheel
and our resident accordian player, morgani
people dressed up as vegetables to remind you to donate to the soup kitchens and food banks
kids doing gymnastics
and even buddha's girlfriend. who was marching with her girl scout troop.
very much a santa cruz parade.
so when it was over, dearsweetdave went to meet his friend lalu, and i wandered a bit on pacific avenue. at one point i found myself standing on the sidewalk outside santa cruz roasting company. and this man and woman were there and they were arguing over the coffee. loudly. and she was whining about wanting starbucks.
now one thing i should share is that last week when dearsweetdave and i watched the secret there was a moment in the movie where they were talking about the law of attraction and how you could have ANYTHING you wanted. but that might seem overwhelming to some people. so this one person in the film said something about manifesting a cup of coffee. everyone in the room i was watching the film with giggled. but i told dearsweetdave that i was going to manifest a cup of coffee. he said that wasn't really very hard. i could just go to lulu's and buy one. but i said what i meant was that i was just going to put it out there to the universe and have it delivered. i wasn't going to pay for it. i wasn't even going to ask for it other than just saying to the universe that i wanted it.
so back to the roasting company. you know where this is going. i'm standing there. these two people are having a loud discussion about the coffee. the woman is quite certain that she hates the roasting company organic coffee. i finally have to interrupt her. and i tell her that the coffee at the roasting company is organic. that it is fair trade. that it is really good and actually the folks who grow it are paid a fair wage and are not subjected to the pesticides that the folks who pick the coffee beans for starbucks are subjected to and that they are better able to provide for their families and have a better quality of life. and i point out to her that the coffee at the roasting company is CHEAPER than the coffee at starbucks.
she says she doesn't care. she like starbucks. that it just tastes better to her. and i ask if she's even had any roasting company coffee? and she says, no, but she knows she hates it. so i tell her that she might want to actually drink some before she makes up her mind. and then she tells me she already knows. so i point to starbucks which is directly across the street from the roasting company and say, "it's right there. just go over there." and she tells me that she was there and the line was TOO LONG! and i say, "well, then, maybe you should just give this organic coffee a try then, huh?" and then the guy, who she's with, looks at me and says, "what kind of coffee would you like today?" and i'm a little shocked, so i say, "excuse me?" and he says, "what would you like? i'm buying you your coffee today. anything you want. just tell me. i'm getting it. that was just beautiful!"
and that is how i manifested my coffee. or how the universe delivered it. i asked. i completely forgot about it, to tell you the truth, and then yesterday i got my coffee. so you see, it really does work!
and i encourage all of you to try it. go manifest a cup of coffee. just one. and then when you do, just imagine all the other things you could manifest as well.
