As my flight touched down this morning on blessed California soil, I literally wept for joy.
This was quite unexpected.
I have been, honestly, quite happy in Salt Lake City. Especially lately. I've realized that happiness is not a matter of what street you're standing on, whether or not there's a beach beneath your feet and an ocean at your door. Happiness exists deep within you. In your heart. In your soul.
But when that steward, with his sexy British accent, welcomed me to California this morning, well, I found myself surprised and sobbing.
Even if I was just there for a few minutes, it was so good to be back home. I think I always will be a California girl. Even if I was born in Washington, D.C. and now reside in city called Salt Lake.
