December 25 Gift. What's a gift you gave
yourself this year that has kept on giving?
There is something immensely satisfying in turning over the soil. In digging deep into the earth to plant
seeds with hope and dreams of a beautiful garden.
This year, for the first time in a very, very long time, I had a
garden. That fed me and many others.
That grew beyond my wildest hopes and dreams. That was filled with beautiful varieties of beets and greens
and onions and squashes and tomatoes.
There was tranquility there in my garden. The peace infused the fruits of my labor and the meals
created from my garden fed not only me, but countless
homeless men and women here in Salt Lake.
When the weather turned in the fall from sunshine to snow, I saved the
seeds. For next
year. I will dig and plant
and hope anew.
